Hey lovelies, How was your week? Mine was quite okay but I’m taking a break from school this weekend and I’m chilling at home. So I decided to put up another girlpower post of the lovely Stephanie ofStephyLately. Her blog is a perfect mix of fun and fashion and I absolutely enjoy myself every time I’m on there.
You guys should check it out and read more about her below!
1. Can you tell us a little about yourself and your blog?
I am Stephanie, a blogger and content creator at Stephylately. A platform I set up four years ago to share my take on style with my readers. Besides blogging I am a certified geek, studying business economics and currently on a work placement, working as a business analyst.
2. How would you describe your blogging style?
I would say practical chic street style. Emphasis on practical because I tend to pick statement pieces that I would rock on a normal day but at the same time it needs to be trendy.
3. When did you first get into blogging and what inspired you?
In 2013, I took a gap from academics due to personal circumstances. Having plenty of free time I found myself constantly on YouTube and discovered some stylish bloggers out there and one day I had a light bulb moment and told myself that if the could make it, I could too plus it would keep me occupied.
4. How do you manage time to run your blog efficiently?
I struggled in the beginning and at some point I neglected my original blog because I had no proper plan and goals for what exactly I was trying to achieve. Plus I felt like no one bothered to read what I was putting out. It was demoralizing but with time, I decided to re-brand (Last year) and take it a bit more serious. With a plan in mind I am more organized this time around I schedule my posts ahead so that I maintain consistency. Planning my schedules is a skill that I keep working on because there are many factors that contribute to this. Being in a cold country with unpredictable weather doesn’t make it any easy for me but I try to make it work and make the most of the sporadic spells of sunshine or rain free days.
5.What has been the most challenging moment in your blogging journey so far?
Generating leads to my blog is the greatest challenge to date. I realized that it’s important to put in that extra effort to distribute your content using social media and that’s one way of generating leads but let me be honest the struggle is real with the blogging industry being saturated, it isn’t easy but it’s definitely feasible.
6.Have you met anyone interesting on your blogging journey? If so, please tell us about the encounter?
I wouldn’t necessarily say I have met any famous people in my blogging journey yet but its allowed me to connect with other Zambian fashion bloggers both in Diaspora and in Zambia such that when I visited last year I got to meet up with some of the top bloggers over there.
I will be heading to London fashion week so hopefully I get to meet some cool people.
7.How would you describe your personal style and is there someone who is a fashion inspiration to you?
I get my inspiration from pinterest and fashion magazines. My style icon is Olivia Palermo. Her style is impeccable and polished. She is forever looking good.
8.What would you say that is the greatest satisfaction of being a fashion blogger? (Invitations to fashion events, interaction with people, etc.)
For me, interaction with people is the greatest satisfaction of being a fashion blogger. I absolutely love it when my readers respond to my posts and get inspired by my work. This is what motivates me to become even better at what I do. I have been to a couple of blogger events but each time I went I realized that most people were in groups and I went alone so I did kind of feel left out but am not saying it’s always like that for everyone. That’s just my personal experience.
9.Could you give some advice for the newbie fashion bloggers in the house?
Blogging is fun but don’t get too consumed with numbers, getting paid and being famous. Success doesn’t come overnight. You have to obviously put in the work for some time before you start enjoying the fruits of your labour. Another thing I would say is “Be true to yourself and let your passion shine through your work”. One mistake that I made was comparing my success with others. Comparison will lead you to misery so just focus on making your blog better for yourself and your readers.
